Friends Board of Directors

Susan Tracey, President

Susan has lived in Mt Lebanon since 1967. She retired from Citizens Bank in 2009 as an Assistant Vice President in the Government Group.

She has always been a lover of libraries. During the Summers, as a child growing up in Bethel Park, she would take the trolley to the library, check out the number of books allowed and return the following week. It was idyllic. She started volunteering at the Book Cellar in 2011 and was invited to join the Friends Board in 2016. Being a Board member has brought the opportunity to contribute to the library and the community. She believes that we should always look for ways to give back.

As time allows, Susan enjoys traveling, in and outside of the United States, time with family, a good book and a cup of tea.

Laurie Garvey

Laurie is a proud native of Mt. Lebanon with strong roots in the community. She built her professional career in the Customer Experience space, shaping the customer journey at industry leader GSK and more recently, innovative, local startups BodyMedia and 4moms. She is committed to giving back and volunteers her time to causes that matter deeply to her. Her compassion and hands-on involvement underscore her commitment to building a stronger, more supportive community for everyone. A passionate reader, she is rarely without a book borrowed from the Mt. Lebanon Public Library.

Cherie Moshier

Cherie has been a resident of Mt. Lebanon since 2010. She served on the Library Board from 2012-2018 and has served on the Friends board since 2021. She enjoys increasing awareness of the programs the Friends support and loves seeing kids get their first library card during Love Your Library month in September.

Her architectural firm, Moshier Studio, designs higher education projects, K-12 schools, recreation facilities, and other buildings in Western PA. She and her husband Gary enjoy reading and traveling.

Sylvia O’Donovan

Sylvia started volunteering with the Mt. Lebanon Book Cellar in 2016 and found the experience very rewarding. Being around books and interesting people was a dream come true. Over time, she gradually began to take on more responsibilities with the Book Cellar and was asked to join the board of the Friends of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library in 2024. Helping to raise funds to ensure that the library continues to be a welcoming place for all and to provide programs that are valued by the community is a great way for her to give back to the municipality that she has lived in for over 40 years. When she is not at the library you may find her walking in the woods in the local parks, often with her camera trying to capture an amazing picture, or at a local quilt shop buying fabric to create a colorful quilt for a gift for a cherished friend.
